2 years of hair growth..... =)

Okay so as you can tell, I haven't started my CGM yet. However, I did decide to have my hair straightened out. It's been two years. I big chopped originally December 29, 2012. After being natural and having my hair straightened after my 1 year naturalversary, I decided in March 2014 to have my hair cut into a tapered style (as pictured above). So I just fell in love with my tapered cut all over again. I even allowed my hair to grow out before I colored it again. Well, fast forward to this month (March 2016) and as you can see, my hair has grown past my shoulders. I've made it my business to use my own products  (Dani-Shea www.dani-shea.com) and as you can see my hair is noce and soft and has major growth. I love my hair. I don't have any major plans to big chop again. Heehee. It's almost BSL (bra strap length) and my goal is to get it possibly waistline length.

Have a great day......

My Natural Hair Update.................

Well, it's certainly been a while since I've last blogged. My plan is to blog at least twice a week. With that being said, I'll let you know my routine for washing my hair. As many know, I've been naturally (relaxer-free) for the past 3 years. I've loved every minute of it and will not go back. I've learned so much when it comes to caring for my hair and even started my own small business called "Dani-Shea" that has quality products made with natural ingredients, that can be use on ALL hair types.

I try to keep my routine very simple. Basically, wash, deep condition, detangle, and style. That's it. Every now and then I'll do an oil rinse treatment.

I LOVE MY HAIR!!! While transitioning, I always wondered what my hair texture/curl pattern would look like. As you can see in the picture below, my hair does what it wants and I love that. It's not as coarse as 4C hair (for those that follow that hair type system). My curls are more of little ringlets and waves. My curls have a mind of their own. I just make sure to keep them moisturized.

Many people tell me that they wish they had my hair. I take that as a good compliment. I would just turn around and tell them how great their hair is as well. I truly believe that you have to embrace your hair and rock it with confidence. It took me a while to learn that and now that I know how my hair operates, I embrace it and keep moving. I love to wear wash n' go's and do a twist out every now and then.

My plan is to start using the Curly Girl Method. From what I researched, my products from Dani-Shea that I've created are Curly Girl Friendly. So I'll be sure to blog about that soon.

Well I'm going to sign off now........I'll post about my CGM shortly.

PLANNER NEWBIE!!!

So excited about being part of the planner world. I've always been a stickler of trying to keep things organized and entering into this new world is awesome for me. I've spent numerous hours on Etsy, Instagram, Facebook pages, etc. Done research on what's the best planner I can have (that's within my budget) and that would be functional for me. So I decided upon the Happy Planner from "Me and My Big Ideas (www.shop.meandmybigideas.com It cost $24.99. It comes in various designs and sold in various stores/locations.

So I got mine and I'm in love with it. I had been using my homemade planner that I created from using the ARC discbound system from Staples. (blogged about it previously). It was the standard letter size and I was looking for something a little smaller yet large enough to put my information in.

So I joined a few Happy Planner Facebook pages and I started following people and businesses on Instagram. Seeing the styles and such on how to make my planner work and fit my style I began looking on various Etsy shops. Three of my favorite are "Aloha Prints Co", "Stick With Me Shop", and "Sweet Kawaii Design". There are tons of shops that offer stickers, washi tapes, planner designs, etc. Just looking through everything is so much fun for me.

I am currently creating me a work area to have and store all of my planner goods. I want to also have another planner set up for my Dani-Shea(www.dani-shea.com)

I advise anyone that wants to find something that they will give you peace and you will find relaxing as I do, try out planning.

Product Review.......

Okay so this is an oldie but goodie....lol
I absolutely LOVE this go-to style. My wash-n-go is a must when I don't wanna twist or braid my hair. So with that being said, let me tell you about a product that helped me achieve this amazing style.
Kinky Curly Knot Today Leave-In Conditioner and Kinky Curly Curling Custard!!!!
I saw these products on YouTube being used in a wash-n-go and I decided to try it out. Now, I know people are wondering the cost and where to be able to purchase. Well let's just say, I've tried many things from just conditioner, to eco styler gel, etc. and NOTHING has really helped me get the look I was going for. So I found the products in Target. They are a little bit on the pricey end but they, to me, are worth the investment. The conditioner cost just under $12.00 for an 8oz bottle and the custard cost just under $17.00 for an 8oz jar. I said that I would never really pay much for products but when I bought this and tried it, I fell in love instantly.
The KCKT Conditioner is THE BEST. It's a leave-in as well as a detangler. Let me just say that this stuff is like pure silk!!! Heehee!!! Once you finish washing or "co-washing" your hair, use this as a detangler and just watch how SUPER easy the comb/brush/fingers glide through your hair. It makes finger detangling, and such, a thing that everyone with every hair type love. I often don't like to go through that detangling process because I know it takes time (I do it anyway.....lol). This conditioner/detangler cuts that time basically in half for me. It makes one ENJOY the process and not mind having it a part of their hair care regimen. I strongly suggest that anyone looking for something that will help detangle their hair to try this out. It's TOTALLY worth the cost, in my opinion.  Now on to the KCCC. I use this in combination with the conditioner. It's like a lose gel like custard, and not too sticky. It reminds me of my eco styler gel but looser....lol. It smells great and doesn't cause flakes. It goes on clear and dries that way. It helps enhance the curls that you already have. It DOES NOT create curls in your head, just allows natural curl pattern to show even more.
Let me tell you how I use it. After washing and deep conditioning my hair, I put my hair into 4 to 6 sections (small sections work well). I keep my spray bottle (with H2O only) nearby because the key to the perfect wash-n-go is to keep hair saturated (soaked) with water. I take each section (drenched in water) and finger detangle as much as possible and then I add the KCKT Leave-in Conditioner/Detangler. I appy about a nickel size per section. You can always add more if needed (as well as spray hair with water if it begins to dry). I then use my brush and proceed to further detangle as well as allow the leave-in to get on all of the strands of my hair. Lastly, I apply the KCCC to smaller sections of the hair that's sectioned off. I clip the hair out of the way and rake the custard through my hair. Immediately my natural curl pattern pops/enhances. I continue this process throughout my entire head until done. I style my hair in a way I want it to dry. Once I have the style that I like I LEAVE IT ALONE!!! The wash-n-go looks it's best if it's not manipulated too much. In other words,  NO HANDS IN HAIR SYNDROME!!! HeeHee!!! It's best to do this style over the weekend or on a day off work where you won't have to be outside much, unless you are always busy then by all means you can use a handheld or hooded dryer to speed up the drying process.

Great Purchase for Transitioners or Newly Naturals!!!

Okay so I get a lot of questions asked about tips for people wanting to go natural or that have just big chopped and don't know what to use for their hair. I can only stress the importance of finding a basic regimen to use. I, myself, have been natural 1 yr and just a few days shy of 6 months. This item pictured above was one of my life savers. It's the Shea Moisture "Repair & Transition Kit* I purchased it from Walgreens a couple of years ago. It cost around $22.00 for the kit. As stated on the kit, it is designed to repair chemically treated hair, restore moisture and transition to natural, healthy hair. In my opinion, this is a great purchase for anyone looking to go natural or are new to the natural team.  Shea Moisture has amazing products, in which I can do reviews for another time. This Kit includes: Deep Treatment Masque, Moisture Retention Shampoo, Restorative Conditioner, and Reconstructive Finishing Elixir.  Each size is 4oz. I love the shampoo and conditioner so much I purchased the larger bottles in 13oz. Also, the masque (12oz size) I purchased as well for deep conditioning (will give a review on at a later time). I definitely recommend anyone to try the kit first before making the purchase of larger sizes. Remember, find products that work for your hair type/texture and build a regimen from that. Until next time........stay naturally beautiful!!!!!
